Level 2 Certificate in Improving Personal
Exercise and Nutrition (Health for Life 2)

The Health for Life (Level 2) Exercise and Nutrition course is designed to help you develop a greater understanding of the principles of health and well-being. The course will provide you with a detailed knowledge of the effects of exercise on health and the importance of appropriate nutrition. It is an ideal progression course if you have completed the Health for Life Level 1 Exercise Studies course or if you have an advanced interest in health and fitness.

Course information:

- A distance learning/home study programme to complete in your own time.

- Can be completed in as little as 10 weeks.

- Fully supported by a participating further education college.

- No attendance at college required.

- Receive a Level 2 college certificate upon completion.


 

What does the course consist of?

- Upon enrolment you will receive a Health for Life (Level 2) course pack.

- The pack includes three units (comprising of a workbook and an assessment).

Unit 1: Understanding exercise and fitness

Unit 2: Understanding the role of nutrition in exercise

Unit 3: Planning and preparing for exercise

- Each unit assessment includes multiple choice questions. The final assessment also includes designing and preparing a two-week fitness and dietary plan.

- All assessments are marked by a designated college tutor.

- Feedback, advice and guidance is provided by phone and/or e-mail.

The course provides a diverse understanding of the following:

- The positive effects of physical activity.

- How personal lifestyle choices can affect health and well-being.

- How to improve personal motivation.

- The importance of exercising safely.

- The function and use of nutrients and the importance of food and energy.

- Assessing your own personal fitness levels.

- The components of an effective personal exercise and nutrition programme.

What are the benefits of the course?

The course provides you with a Level 2 qualification which will show you how to focus on improving existing fitness levels, whilst analysing and developing the nutritional content of your diet. It explains how to improve your personal motivation and set goals to improve your strength, stamina and flexibility. It also guides you through constructing an effective plan for your exercise and diet.

Progression opportunities

Once you have completed this course you may be able to undertake a variety of other related courses, such as the Healthy Eating course - the Level 2 Certificate in Nutrition and Health.
