Healthy Eating - Level 2
Healthy Eating is an accredited Level 2 course that encourages participants to improve their knowledge on nutrition, health and dietary planning.
The course also provides underpinning knowledge for anyone involved in preparing food (e.g. within the catering industry) working towards a full NVQ.
Course information:
• Designed for anyone with an interest in living healthily or knowing more about nutrition and health
• Delivered via distance learning
• Can be completed in as little as 12 weeks
• Fully supported by a local FE College
• No attendance at college required
• Receive a national Level 2 qualification upon completion
What does the course involve?
• Upon enrolment candidates will receive your own personal Healthy Eating course pack (see picture)
• Your pack includes three units, including workbooks and assessments:
> Unit 1: Explore the principles of nutrition and health
> Unit 2: Consider nutritional needs of a variety of individuals
> Unit 3: Use food and nutritional information to plan a healthy diet
• Complete each Unit assessment in turn
• All assessments are marked by a designated tutor
• Feedback, advice and guidance is provided by phone and/or e-mail.
What will candidates learn?
The Healthy Eating course provides a diverse understanding of the following:
• What a healthy diet consists of, the five food groups and healthy food preparation
• The principles of a healthy diet
• The nutritional needs of different age groups and people with special dietary requirements
• Food labelling, food additives and how to recognise healthy and unhealthy foods.

• The knowledge you gain can also be passed onto others (including pupils, friends and family members)

What is the cost of this course?
Course costs vary from college to college. In Scotland there is no fee for this course, however restrictions may apply.
