Health for Life - Level 1
The Health for Life (Exercise) course will show you how to get fitter, improve your diet, reduce stress and generally help you develop a healthier lifestyle.
Course information:
• A distance learning / home study programme candidates complete in their own time
• Designed for anyone of any level of fitness
• Can be completed in as little as 6 weeks
• Fully supported by a local FE College
• No attendance at college required
• Receive a Level 1 college certificate upon completion
What does the course involve?
• Upon enrolment candidates will receive a Health for Life pack.
• The course pack includes 3 Units (each unit comprising a workbook and assessment)
> Unit 1: The Principles of Exercise and Fitness.
> Unit 2: Safe and Effective Exercise.
> Unit 3: Developing your own Exercise Programme.
• Complete each Unit assessment in turn:
> Unit 1: 20 multiple choice questions
> Unit 2: 20 multiple choice questions
> Unit 3: Exercise Diary where you record exercise activity over 3 weeks.
• All assessments are marked by a designated college tutor.
• Feedback, advice and guidance is provided by phone and/or e-mail.
What will candidates learn?
• The impact exercise has on different parts of the body
• How diet, nutrition, drugs, alcohol and smoking affects the body and ability to exercise
• Safe and effective methods of exercise
• Correct exercise techniques and how to implement them
• How to create your own exercise programme and tailor it to your specific objectives.

Course materials identifies how to adopt a healthier lifestyle
The knowledge you gain can also be passed onto others (including pupils, friends and family members).
You will receive a Level 1 certificate qualification upon completion

What is the cost of this course?
Course costs vary from college to college. In Scotland there is no fee for this course, however restrictions may apply.
